First day in the tea plantations
The families of workers of the tea plantation live in an estate surrounding the nursery school. As it is the first day we were joined by Frankie, the director of Kimlea, so that she could introduce us to the nursery school teachers. We met Purity, and her assistant Agnes; we intuited that soon we would be great friends. We spent the whole morning playing with the children without a break, and we got a hang of how the rest of the days would be like. We divided them into two groups: large and small. The little ones concentrated on drawings and paintings, while the big ones played running games and football on the field. All the children loved chasing bubbles from the bubble blowers.
We were accompanied by Wambui, Chela and Hortensia, young Kenyans interested in the development of their country. They will be with us throughout our stay here.
We returned to Kimlea to have lunch at 2.30pm ... following our Spanish timing! In the afternoon we met again to prepare for the activities of the following day.
