Igualada MOU FITXA at the XXVIth Family Day in Montclar Mestral
On Sunday, June 11 a group of Igualada MOU FITXA volunteers was present at the MONTCLAR-MESTRAL School Festival.
They went with two clear objectives: to explain the fascinating world of voluntary service and to support Project EBALE, one of the Montblanc Foundation's, with the sale of handicrafts made by the elderly people of the Pare Vilaseca Retirement Home.
During this school year 2016-2017, the volunteers organised a weekly workshop and during it they proposed making some handicrafts to raise funds for pregnant mothers and newborns at the Monkole Hospital in Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The response was unanimous: ALL FOR AFRICA!
Excited and happy they painted bookmarks and recycled bottles; in some cases, they put animals from Africa on the lids to create multipurpose bottles with African themes and on others they made slits, then painted them and turned them into collection boxes so that volunteer families, during the summer, could continue collecting money for EBALE at home, among relatives and friends…
The chalk paint they used was a donation from La Encanterie of Barcelona.
At the Festival many families made donations and took some of the handicrafts; above all, spontaneous volunteers, as many schoolboys and schoolgirls from primary schools in Montclar as from Mestral helped at the stalls and spread the word among the attendees so that they came to the stalls to support Africa
MOU FITXA Voluntary service: the work is endless and is bringing in new volunteers and helpers!
