Project: The Kamalini training centre.
Located: New Delhi
Counterpart: Educational & Development Initiatives (EDI)
Direct beneficiaries: 3.000 students.
Indirect beneficiaries: 24.000 people.
Objective: Women in India are submitted to major discrimination, especially in the lowest social classes and in rural áreas. They are systematically denied access to basic education, medical services, preparation for work, etc. , denied by their own families and society in general.
Confronting this situation, the Educational and Development Initiatives (EDI) association created the Kamalini Training Centre in 2007, in provisional areas in Shahpur Jat, south of New Delhi. Through training in basic education and professional skills, young women would be allowed to improve their quality of life and reclaim their role in society through a dignified job.
